Five Questions with Moni Featchurs of Premier Screenings
Launched by entrepreneur Moni Featchurs, Premier Screenings provides inflatable movie-style screens for any outdoor or indoor event. The City of Toledo took notice of the business and became a client in an effort to attract more people to city parks. Moni joined the Northwest Ohio Impact Program to gain new insights on the best way to market his business.
What inspired you to create your business?
I’ve been a DJ for more than 20 years. I get invited to do a lot of festivals. I was invited to Atlanta, and they had me DJ in a park, and once it got dark, they put up a huge inflatable screen and showed an old school movie. I thought, ‘Wow, this would be really cool to bring back to Toledo.’
What separates Premier Screenings from the competition?
My business partner and I both have years of experience in planning public and private events. Our combined knowledge of what’s successful and what’s not—we bring that knowledge to you and help you to turn your event into an A-list experience.
How did you first learn about JumpStart and the Northwest Ohio Impact program?
I was first introduced to JumpStart when I was taking another business class, Assets Toledo. JumpStart had a mixer, so I attended and was thoroughly impressed by everything going on around me.
They had an Open Mic Pitch Night, so I participated in the open mic. They had a pitch competition, so I participated in the pitch competition. When I saw the information come through about the Impact Program, I said, ‘I definitely have to get on it.’
What’s the most important thing the program offers for entrepreneurs?
The most important thing the program offers is the knowledge and mentorship. Any time you’re trying to get to the next level, it’s easier when you can talk to somebody who’s already been down that road. The mentors they provide are top-notch, and they really help you. They really care about your business like it’s their own.
What are your future plans for your business?
Right now, we are partnered with the City of Toledo. In two years, hopefully, we’ll be partnered with others across the metropolitan area. I’d also like to set up a summer internship program for students to be able to get a feel of what it’s like to work with the community and run your own business.
