Collaborating closely with fellow executive leaders, Corey spearheads the development and execution of proactive initiatives aligned with JumpStart’s strategic plan. His responsibilities include researching and identifying new initiatives, partnerships, and strategic business alliances that enhance the organization’s growth and impact.
James also provides direct oversight of JumpStart’s development, strategic partnerships, and community impact teams. These teams are instrumental in securing resources through fundraising, key collaborations, and community engagement to expand JumpStart’s reach. Signature initiatives under his leadership include the Goldman Sachs Foundation’s One Million Black Women: Black in Business national program, FutureLAND, Verizon Learning Centers, CentroVilla25, and the Midtown Collaboration Center (MCC). With a career foundation rooted in 15 years in the professional sports industry, James held various leadership roles with the Cleveland Cavaliers, specializing in business development, corporate partnerships, and revenue generation. His tenure culminated in his 15th season, following NBA All-Star 2022, as a leader in the organization’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement department.
A committed civic leader, James serves on the boards of The Rainey Institute and the NEO Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. His past service includes work with The Marcus Graham Project, MORTAR, and the Cleveland Branch of the NAACP, where he played key roles in strategic partnerships, program facilitation, and executive leadership. A native of Louisville, KY, James is a proud graduate of The Ohio State University. He is a proud husband to Jessica and father to their baby daughter.
