JumpStart has named NaSheka Combs-Lemon its new Director of Entrepreneurial Services for Stark County as the nonprofit continues to connect Ohio entrepreneurs to the opportunities and resources they need to succeed. Combs-Lemon succeeds Dan Brown, who moved into the role of Chief Services Officer at JumpStart.

In the role, Combs-Lemon will convene resource partners, capital providers and technical assistance organizations so more growth-oriented business owners in the area can connect with support that fits their goals. That work includes leading a pitch competition for Stark County entrepreneurs with a $10,000 prize.

Combs-Lemon brings more than 12 years of experience in small business support, workforce development, community development and entrepreneurship. She joins JumpStart from the Stark Economic Development Board, where she most recently served as Director of Small Business Growth and Entrepreneurial Development and connected business owners with credit readiness support, lenders and countywide resource partners.

A native and proud resident of Massillon, Combs-Lemon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from the University of South Carolina and serves on several local boards, including Canton For All People, Massillon Museum, Stark Area Regional Transit Authority and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Stark Alumnae Chapter.

“What impressed me during the interview process was NaSheka’s devotion to the economic vitality of the region, her understanding of the many stakeholders involved and, most importantly, her entrepreneurial spirit,” said Patty Ajdukiewicz, JumpStart Vice President of Small Business Services and Capital. “She has been involved in this work for years, is local to the region and is eager to help more entrepreneurs in Stark and surrounding communities see JumpStart as an open door.”

One of the first opportunities Combs-Lemon will help advance is Stark Impact, a 12-week business assistance program that gives Stark County business owners access to advising, practical education, peer connections and a chance to pitch for up to $10,000 at the program showcase on December 15. Applications are open now and will be accepted through September 7.

Since Stark Impact launched in 2023, business owners across the county have used the program’s free, outside guidance to evaluate their progress and focus on what they need to grow.
“Stark County has entrepreneurs who are ready to grow but need the time, guidance and connections to decide what comes next,” Combs-Lemon said. “Stark Impact gives business owners space to sharpen their plans, build stronger networks and get practical support at no cost to them. I’m excited to help more founders across the county take advantage of that opportunity.”

The Stark Impact program is designed for business owners who already have momentum but could use dedicated time, outside perspective and structured support to build a viable plan for their next stage of growth.
